We are many. But how do we coordinate? How do we make decisions? How do we come to a sound worn by all? What distinguishes a large improvisational ensemble from other musical great forms?
The Wuppertal Improvisation Orchestra is a good example for the reinterpretation of old roles: an orchestra directs itself – this is the subtitle. Although the role of the conductor does exist, this can be any musician at any time. With a sign that is musically stimulating, but leaves room for open forms. For ten years, the orchestra has been working on the musical expression of many voices that unite to the cooperative, intuitive and complex voice of this musical body. In a moderated concert, the WIO plays and discusses their own work. Many heads, ears and hands: Multiminded-Multiphonics.
