Special workshop for free improvised music with Franz Hautzinger
15. – 17. June 2018
A little help to understand, practice and perform improvised music.
- sound & style
- performing strategies
- structure & form analysis
- history & theory of improvised music
For our special workshop series we invite particularly interesting people from the international scene to present their work in concert and in the workshop. This time the Viennese trumpet player Franz Hautzinger will be present. He is considered one of the most prominent experimental musicians of the Austrian scene and has worked with many great names of the international avant-garde. He developped his quarter-tone trumpet into a means of expression of a completely new kind eliciting bizarre sounds and noises. In his performances, he creates adventurous soundscapes that ressemble electronic music rather than a trumpet and are full of interesting sounds.
Equally convincing is his workshop work with ensembles of different sizes, which we now present in the exploratorium.
The workshop is adressed to people who are experienced in improvised music
On Thursday, 14.6., Franz Hautzinger will play live in concert with a quartet of his choice.
