Our library comprises a steadily growing collection of literature focusing on musical improvisation, but also dance improvisation and performance. Furthermore, you can find literature about creativity, (musical) pedagogy and play. This is complemented by a collection of CDs and DVDs by artists of free improvisation.

The library also houses an archive in which exploratorium concert recordings and videos are stored. Here, improvisational pioneer Lilli Friedeman’s estate is accessible for research purposes.

The library is open to visitors during the hours listed below. It is a reference library which means that books and media cannot be borrowed, but instead read, watched and listened to on site.
