What makes four musicians an octopus? It seems obvious – they have eight arms, but also FOUR heads. Like a kind of musical Voltron, however, the arms come from different places with different backgrounds: one plays Bach, one jazz, another Boulez. They all improvise, listen to each other and work together. So a lot of strange things happen in Octopus’s head. Collisions … discussions … unexpected turns … its eight-armed dreams lead it astounding paths through unknown areas of the deep sea.

“Rarely do you experience concerts that show the whole wealth of improvised music so compact … Music, played by four completely different characters, like a single cast, sometimes reminiscent of the orchestral strings, sometimes characterized by soloistic actions, in various facets, but never at all arbitrary and always worn by an impressive ensemble spirit.” (Carl Ludwig Hübsch)
