Arila Siegert
has a background in dance and trained with Palucca in Dresden.
She received her first engagement in 1971 in Berlin at Tom Schilling’s dance theatre. In 1979, she went to the Dresden State Opera as a solo dancer, founded her first dance theatre there at the Staatsschauspiel and was an “appointed expert” for the stage at the Bauhaus in Dessau.
Early on, she began reconstructing works of expressionist dance: Vogelsang, Hoyer, Wigman. In doing so, she brought the tradition of expressive dance into the modern age. Through Kandinsky’s friendship with Palucca, Bauhaus principles were incorporated into her training.
She has realised several stage compositions by Kandinsky: “Der gelbe Klang”, “Violett” in Dessau, “Über die Mauer” 2019 Akademie der Künste Berlin. She is interested in developing a new form of dance theatre that seeks to unite the arts through to new digital and media forms. In 2020, she founded the artist group “Violett” for this purpose.
