Armin Thalheim
Thalheim was born in Kamenz.
He studied church music in Dresden and Leipzig from 1958 to 1969. After a 4th prize in organ (1968), Armin Thalheim won 2nd prize in harpsichord at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig in 1972.
He then became a master student of Prof. Hans Pischner at the Academy of Arts in Berlin and travelled with great success to almost all European countries, Japan, India, Mexico and Cuba as a soloist and chamber music partner of renowned soloists.
He has attended masterclasses in early music with Z. Ruzickova, H. Dreyfus, K. Gilbert and G. Leonhardt. In addition to his concert activities, he improvises on the organ, piano and harpsichord and composes songs and instrumental pieces.
He has specialised particularly in the interpretation of early music and the use of historical keyboard instruments, without neglecting the piano. From 1996 to 2000 Armin Thalheim was accompanist at the Palucca School in Dresden, from 1974 to 2009 lecturer in improvisation and harpsichord at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin and from 1996 to 2008 lecturer in improvisation at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre. Numerous CD recordings and current publications on radio, television and in the press bear witness to his versatile activities.
