Michael Betzner-Brandt
studied music education (HfM Detmold), philosophy (Bielefeld University and TU Berlin) and choral conducting (UdK Berlin, Prof. Uwe Gronostay). In Berlin, he conducts the chamber choir Consortium musicum and founded the vocal quartet wokim, which focuses on improvisation with the voice.
Important impulses in the field of vocal improvisation came from Michael Vetter, Gunnar Eriksson and Gabriele Hasler.
Participation in conducting courses with Eric Ericson, Helmuth Rilling, Frieder Bernius and Matthias Becker.
Michael Betzner teaches choral and ensemble conducting at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre and at the Berlin University of the Arts. He also conducts the JazzPopChor at the UdK.
