Even though it may seem incredibly difficult at first to improvise polyphonically in the style of Josquin, Ockeghem and Lasso or even Palestrina, some of the basics can be learnt very quickly and sound surprisingly good in a group of four or more singers after a short time. It is astonishing that the behaviour of group improvisation in this style is not so different from free improvisation.
The weekend course is aimed at anyone who wants to learn polyphonic vocal improvisation, historical solmisation and canons according to the rules of the 15th-17th centuries. Participation with instruments, especially string or wind instruments or percussion, is possible and welcome.
