We have several levels in our body that separate two body spaces like a membrane – the so-called diaphragms. These include, for example, the arch of the foot, the pelvic floor, the diaphragm, the shoulder girdle and the base of the skull…. Diaphragms are elastic and can vibrate as long as they are not disturbed by excessive tension. When they are well organized, diaphragms support each other and make movement light and vital, breathing deeper and the sound space larger.
The method:
Moshé Feldenkrais developed a series of “lessons” in which the relationship of the body’s “diaphragms” is examined and optimal permeability for impulses from the foot to the head is sought. This also significantly expands the breathing space.
Improvisation:
We use this oscillation of the body spaces to develop simple rhythms from the body movement and improvise with them.
Who is the workshop aimed at?
Anyone who wants to get to know their own inner rhythms and wants to combine them with rhythmic movement in space can take part.
What to bring:
Please bring comfortable, warm clothing and a cloth or large towel. We work a lot on the floor. – If you need a softer surface, please also bring a mat.
