The energetic dance melodies are only one part of Yiddish wedding music.
Less well known are the more contemplative melodies that were played to welcome the wedding day, to accompany the bride and groom’s families on their way to the wedding, to greet the guests of honor, to wish everyone a good night and much more.
In this workshop we will explore these musical treasures and learn about their cultural significance.
We will work by ear and with written music.
