10 Years of the Improvisation Library

Insights into the Library, Reading and Book Performance
With Reinhard Gagel, Olaf Hochherz, Christoph Irmer & Mathias Maschat

On 4 March 2014, the exploratorium berlin opened its library, in which all relevant literature on improvisation is collected and made available to interested parties. It also contains a considerable number of sound recordings and documents the work of the exploratorium. The library was initiated and built up by Reinhard Gagel, who established and headed the Theory & Research department at the exploratorium from 2012 to 2020. His successor, Mathias Maschat, has been responsible for the library since 2020.

We are celebrating the library’s 10th anniversary with a participatory reading and improvised performance in which Reinhard Gagel and Mathias Maschat will be joined by Olaf Hochherz and Christoph Irmer.

Anyone who would like to gain an insight into the library and celebrate the amazingly large collection and high output of improvised literature and documentation of improvised art with us is cordially invited to attend the event and raise a glass to the anniversary.

Venue: Library (1st floor)
