Ariel Shibolet
Born in Israel in 1972.
Cello lessons and classical music training as a teenager, began playing saxophone in 1992. Member of the Kadima Collective for improvised music and the Tel-Aviv Art Ensemble. Curator and artistic director of the Tel Aviv Meeting.
Performs regularly in Israel, Europe and the USA. Released his first CD recordings with Leo Records and since then another dozen in collaboration with musicians from Israel and the international improvisation scene.
Performed at the Total Music Meeting in Berlin in 2007 and 2008 and at the Moers Festival in 2010, as well as at numerous other venues in Europe and the USA and at various festivals in Israel.
Taught in various improvisation projects in Berlin between 2008 and 2012. His children’s group performed at the Total Music Meeting in 2008. A recording of the 2012 children’s project will be released on CD by “nurnichtnur” in 2014.
He published his teaching method for improvised music in the book expressiv & explOHRativ, Musikalische Improvisation in der Schule.
