Lauren Newton

Vocalist, (USA) living in Tübingen, Germany.
Born in Oregon/USA.

After teaching at the conservatories in Graz, Essen and Berlin, she has been a professor at the Lucerne University of Music since 1995.

Collaborations with Ernst Jandl, Vocal Summit with Bobby McFerrin, Vienna Art Orchestra, Maria Joao, Aki Takase, Joelle Leandre, Anthony Braxton, Urs Leimgruber, Fritz Hauser and others, as well as a soloist in various theatre and dance productions.

1983 Annual German Record Critics’ Award for the solo recording “Timbre”. 2020 Baden-Württemberg Jazz Award for her life’s work. Regular concert activity throughout Europe and Japan.

Her discography includes around 70 recordings.
