Susanne Martin
Dr Susanne Martin is a choreographer, performer, researcher and teacher of contemporary dance. She presents her work internationally in solo performances and collaborative stage works. Her artistic practice and research focus on improvisation, contact improvisation and methods of artistic research / practice as research in the arts.
Festivals where her performances have been shown include: International Dance and Theatre Festival, Gothenburg; Aerowaves, London; Nottdance, Nottingham; Opera Estate, Bassano del Grappa; Tanec Praha, Prague; Potsdamer Tanztage.
In her PhD project Dancing Age(ing) (UK), she explored the potential of improvisation-based dance to critically intervene in cultural narratives, images and practices of age(ing). Since her postdoctoral project ASCOPET at an engineering university (EPFL Switzerland), she has also been exploring how artistic research can contribute to understanding and communicating the potential of dance improvisation for university teaching and research.
