Wolfgang Schliemann

Born in 1956, since 1978 working as a freelance drummer and percussionist in the fields of new / improvised music, sound art and performance. Active in Germany and beyond.
Development of an independent approach to playing which, in addition to the rhythmic aspects, is particularly concerned with the tonal aspects of a diversely expanded, constantly changing range of instruments.
Solo/duo/ensemble and orchestral work.

Participation in projects with cross-media concepts (with dance, theatre, film, visual arts, etc.), preferably space-related work with a synaesthetic orientation.
Co-founder of the Wiesbaden musicians’ co-operative New Jazz (1979),
of ARTist – Musik zur Zeit (1983),
the HumaNoise congress – days of contemporary improvised music (1987),
and the LAG Jazz und Improvisierte Musik Hessen (1991).
Participant in various working and/or available ensembles, including: WIE?! – Wiesbadener Improvisations Ensemble, Ensemble 2 INCQ, Endorfine, A.Q.T R.Z., percussion etcetera, Akustisches / Materialklang
Also collaborates with many improvisers on the European scene in numerous ad-hoc ensembles.
Festival appearances in Berlin, Cologne, Copenhagen, The Hague, Dresden, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Linz, Darmstadt, Ljubljana, Munich, Münster, Nancy, etc.
