In theatre, presence or presentness is a fundamental concept. It means developing a more precise self-perception as well as a deeper receptivity for the immediate environment (space, things, people). The more one develops a more precise and sensitive perception of oneself and one’s surroundings, the more theatrical potential is revealed and can be developed creatively.
Through creative exercises and games that aim to deepen this presence in the participants, we will work with different types of improvisation: with objects, with the space, with everyday situations. The theatrical potential of the exercises is based on a more precise perception of the present moment, the presence in the here and now, and unfolds through collective as well as individual improvisations. Various situations and characters can be developed that arise from the experiences or fantasies of the participants.
In this workshop, the focus is on self-perception: What is it like to be in this room now? What changes in my usual perception of myself? How does my body feel when other people move around me?
All workshops in the “Theater Improvisation and Mindfulness” series can be attended independently of one another. They are suitable for beginners who have no theater experience, as well as for others who are familiar with theater work. Interested parties who have already taken part in a workshop on the same topic can also book the course.
