In this workshop, we will come together as a temporary ensemble to explore the hidden sound worlds of found objects through listening, touch, movement, and free improvisation.
- How can everyday materials can become rich sources of sonic expression?
By working first in a purely acoustic way, participants will discover how different textures, densities, and gestures give rise to unique sound personalities, and how direct physical interaction with objects can open up unexpected musical possibilities.
As these sound worlds unfold, we will explore amplification:
- Extracting subtle vibrations, enhance fragile sounds with a variety of microphones to radically transform sonic gestures
- How can amplification become an extension of the body and the object expanding their expressive range?
Throughout the workshop, we will move between solo explorations and collective improvisation, shaping shared soundscapes that are constantly shifting and evolving.
Participants are invited to bring one or more objects to work with across both days.
