zone[27]: HYPERVENTILATOR
HYPERVENTILATOR is a dance-concert for multiple performers, Paetzold contrabass recorder and air mattresses, which focuses on the medium of air and the act of shifting and transforming through such. Bodies, inside and outside, function as visceral structures through which air can move.
“In our research we emphasize the relationality between motion/movement and sound/listening – strongly tied to Pauline Olivero’s “Anthology of text scores” – DEEP LISTENING. This approach enables us to embody a presence practice that fuels our imagery and defines the turns that are bound to happen.”
As a result, the distinctive cosmos that HYPERVENTILATOR opens, doesn’t traffic with the extremes of utopia/dystopia but is deeply rooted in the space between the two. The sculptures of breath and flesh that emerge during the procedure allow for multidirectional associations and interpretations.
Air mattresses and Paetzold recorder are connected via tubes, forming a sound installation in which the recorder is directly influenced by the air pressure within the air-filled bodies and can be played through external movement. All prerecorded sounds used in HYPERVENTILATOR originate solely from the air mattresses and tubes, creating a subtle but immersive soundscape.
What to expect: Paetzold contrabass recorder, 2 airbodies, tubes, breathing masks, connecting tissue, hair, silicone, flesh, sensation, skin.

Metastasis is electroacoustic, ambient, free improvisation, noise – musical project founded in 2017, by Kuji Davituliani (electronics), Nasi Chavchavadze (cello) and Alexander Khokhiashvili (drums) during anti-government demonstrations in Tbilisi, Georgia. The collective is inspired by the 50s and 60s electronic music scenes. The band was part of the civil movement “White Noise”, which advocated against Georgia’s brutal drug policies. Metastasis, starting from improvised performances during the demonstrations, soon transformed into a full-fledged musical project. Since then, Metastasis has become a significant part of the Tbilisi experimental music scene.
