Ubuesk! Offhandopera
is a text collage based on the play ‘King Ubu’ by Alfred Jarry (1873-1907). It is a grotesque that has been overtaken by reality today. With !Ubuesk!, we outwit the grotesque and declare it to be the only reality. NO KINGS on stage. This is immediately set to music in an operatic style by an ad hoc ensemble.
An !Offhandopera!, abbreviated to !OHO!, is musical theatre based on musical and vocal improvisation. It is performed once and never again.
The ensemble is prepared and the performance is directed by Reinhard Gagel
Interested instrumentalists and singers with experience in improvisation can take part in this performance. Registration and participation in the rehearsal afternoon are prerequisites for this.
