Open Call: Monday Residency at exploratorium

Six-month residency for continuous artistic development at exploratorium berlin for ensembles, collectives, and working groups from September 2026 to February 2027

Application deadline: 15 June 2026

From September 2026 to February 2027, exploratorium berlin is offering a six-month residency to one ensemble, collective or working group active in the fields of improvised music, Echtzeitmusik, performance, or related artistic practices.

The residency offers the opportunity to rehearse free of charge at exploratorium berlin every Monday afternoon (2–6 pm) over a period of six months, and to continuously develop an artistic project.

We are looking for a group that will use this rehearsal time as a space for research, artistic development, and collaborative practice, and that is interested in sharing its work with the public at the end of the residency in the form of a workshop, showing, or final presentation.

We are looking for

ensembles, collectives, or working groups with a compelling project in the field of improvised music or at the intersection of performance, dance, text, sound art, music theatre, or other improvisation-based practices.

The residency particularly welcomes students, graduates, early-career artists, and independent practitioners within the Berlin scene, as well as ensembles and collectives in the early or middle stages of their artistic development, whose work brings new perspectives to improvisation and related artistic practices.

The residency includes

  • free use of rehearsal space at exploratorium berlin
  • regular rehearsal slots on Monday afternoons from September 2026 to February 2027
  • visibility through exploratorium berlin’s communication channels
  • a public final event, workshop, or showing
