Axel Dörner

Pianist, improviser, and certified process work coach and facilitator. She
Born in Cologne, Germany, in 1964. Began piano lessons at the age of nine, then took trumpet lessons at a local music school from the age of eleven. From 1983 to 1986, he studied trumpet with Jon Eardley in Cologne, then piano at the Arnhem Conservatory in Holland from 1988 to 1989. From 1989 to 1994, he studied music at the Cologne University of Music (trumpet with Malte Burba). He has lived in Berlin since 1994. Collaborations with numerous internationally renowned musicians in the fields of “improvised music,” “new music,” “jazz,” and “electronic music.” Axel Dörner is considered one of the most important voices in contemporary music on the trumpet. In the late 1990s, he developed a completely new language for his instrument.

Since 2000, he has undertaken extensive concert tours across all five continents, which have led to the creation of a global, cross-genre musical network with outstanding musicians of our time. His discography currently comprises over 150 CDs/LPs.
Since 2000, he has been working with Sukandar Kartadinata on possibilities for electronically expanding his music.
