Edwin (Eddie) Prévost

Drummer and percussionist, born in England in 1942.

In 1965 he co-founded the groundbreaking improvisation ensemble AMM. A large part of Prévost’s discography (AMM and others) can be found at www.matchlessrecordings.com.

He occasionally gives lectures and writes about music.
He has written the following books: No Sound Is Innocent (Copula, 1995), Minute Particulars (Copula, 2004) and The First Concert: An Adaptive Appraisal of a Meta-Music (Copula, 2011). He has edited the writings of Cornelius Cardew – Cornelius Cardew: A Reader (Copula, 2006) – and John Tilbury’s biography of Cardew, Cornelius Cardew: A Life Unfinished (Copula, 2008).

Prévost has been running a weekly improvisation workshop in London since 1999. To date, several hundred musicians from over 20 countries have taken part.
