Max Arsava
Max Arsava is a pianist, keyboardist and electronic musician based in Berlin. His recent work often involves performative-installative approaches to sound shaped by material and technological mediation. Alongside his solo performances, he works in duo, trio and small ensemble settings with Ignaz Schick, Gunnar Geisse, Alex Bayer, Bill Elgart, Fabian Jung, Grgur Savic, Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoglu, Vasily Ratmansky, Martin Režný and many others, and is a member of and composer for the large ensemble Circuit Training. His music has been released on labels including Aut Records, Jazzwerkstatt, Creative Sources Recordings, KLAENG Records and others. His performances have taken him to Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, France, England, Czech Republic, Denmark, Turkey and the United States. Max is co-host of the artist-run project space Richten25 and co-curator of the Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music series.
Besides his artistic and curatorial actives Max is a dedicated educator and has taught workshops on improvisation, contemporary composition and instrument building for all levels and age groups. He has collaborated with programs like Klangradar and Netzwerk Junge Ohren, introducing experimental music in school projects all over Germany. He has taught classes at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Music at Istanbul Technical University, Universität der Künste Berlin, and is currently teaching at Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar.
