DEK is an improvisation trio founded in 2014 by saxophonist Ken Vandermark, pianist Elisabeth Harnik and drummer Didi Kern. Since then, they have performed throughout Europe and the USA. In 2016, the trio performed as part of Ken Vandermark’s residency at the Stone in New York, and at the end of the year DEK released their debut album, Burning Below Zero. In 2017, the trio toured Europe again and also released three live albums entitled Construct 1–3. DEK’s music has many influences: Harnik’s sonic cosmos, which explores her creative fields as a pianist in improvised music and as a composer of new music; Kern’s profile as a drummer in both the underground rock and improvisation scenes; and Vandermark’s two decades of artistic work, which has been instrumental in shaping jazz in its contemporary form. The combination of these diverse musical backgrounds and the open curiosity of these three musical personalities have given rise to an extraordinary group aesthetic: inclusive, expressive, and immediate.

Pink Forest is the trio of singer Guylaine Cosseron, trumpeter Franz Hautzinger and double bass player Benjamin Duboc. Franz Hautzinger is known as a restless explorer between cultures and musical styles, for example with his archaic quartet Uruk, his long-term crossover project Regenorchester or his outstanding solo work. He has developed his quarter-tone trumpet into a completely new and unique means of expression. The three came together in the ensemble Icosikaihenagone of the busy French double bass player Benjamin Duboc, where Franz Hautzinger met the extraordinary vocal artist Guylaine Cosseron. Her astonishing virtuosity allows her to embark on vocal explorations reminiscent of Sainkho Namtchylak or Phil Minton. Benjamin Duboc is one of the most active artists on the Parisian improvised music and jazz avant-garde scene. At the heart of his thinking and practice is the inclusion of contexts and their diversity in music, dance, theatre and the visual arts.
