Unfortunately, Ignaz Schick had to cancel his participation in the KSS trio originally planned for the evening. Achim Kaufmann and Robyn Schulkowsky will be playing as a duo instead.
The trio KSS: KAUFMANN_SCHICK_SCHULKOWSKY consists of three renowned international improvisers from three different generations. Each of them has developed their own unique style on their instrument (piano, turntable, drums) and collaborated with a variety of important sound artists. The resulting music is electro-acoustic, crisp, textural and playful at the same time, full of detail and organic flow.

Kaufmann has been a member of various ensembles, including the trio with Frank Gratkowski and Wilbert de Joode, a duo with Michael Moore and the Trio grünen with Christian Lillinger and Robert Landfermann. He has worked with numerous renowned musicians, including Han Bennink, George Lewis and Ingrid Laubrock. He has been Professor of Piano and Ensemble at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar since 2018. Kaufmann received the SWR Jazz Prize in 2001 and the Albert Mangelsdorff Prize in 2015.
