Biliana Voutchkova (BG/DE) – Violin, Voice
Roy Carroll (IE/DE) – Electroacoustic Media
ONETIME is a meeting of sound, music and gesture; composed, played and embodied with instruments, bodies and objects that merge in the expression of uniqueness and universality. By paying attention to each new moment, ONETIME can be seen as a performance of a design, an interaction with presence, sound and movement in real time. The trio unfolds a lively, multi-layered audiovisual imagery in a shared vision of contrast and shared memories of body and imagination.
The violinist Biliana Voutchkova is a solo and chamber musician. With great dedication, she interprets, composes and improvises, especially in the field of new music and in experimental sound and movement projects: an artist with a very strong individual voice. She lives in Berlin, works as a soloist and with the Ensemble United Berlin, the soloist ensemble Kaleidoskop, the Splitter Orchestra, Zeitkratzer, Voutchkova/Thieke duo and can be heard at festivals and concert series worldwide. Biliana is the founder/curator of the DARA String Festival. She received the composition scholarship from the Berlin Senate in 2017 and funding from the Trust for Mutual Understanding New York and INM Berlin.
The Instrument creates performance pieces that emerge from the collaboration between choreographer Maya M. Carroll and composer Roy Carroll. Their work demonstrates an unflinching sensuality and tactile, imaginative exploration of the body. The Instrument works closely with a wide range of artists. Their approach stems from a clear aesthetic of movement and sound that permeates all facets of the work, from photography to graphics to fine art.
