Improvisation in traditional Chinese music

In this workshop you can not only experience and get to know the music cultures of China, but also develop your own creativity through the traditional music styles.

In the workshop, I will presented you an overview of traditional Chinese music. In particular, I will focus on “Jiangnan Sizhu” from the Jiangnan region, “Chao Zhou music” (Teochew music) from Guangdong province and “Nanyin” (Nanguan music) from Fujian province. We will mainly try out and explore the traditional keys, rhythms and patterns through various practical exercises. During the workshop we will make music and improvise together in the group, always with the participation of the Chinese lute “Pipa”.

The workshop is aimed at advanced amateurs, music students and professional musicians. Every instrument including voice is welcome. The workshop language is German and, if required, also English.
