Invisible Body Performance is a project by dancer and choreographer Maria Colusi and composer and electronic musician Edgardo Rudnitzky. It explores the intersection between auditory perception and material reality: What is the role of hearing in the perception of dance? How can choreography be experienced without the sense of sight? Maria Colusi dances in complete darkness; her movements are amplified by microphones and projected into the room via headphones. With this approach, the Argentinian duo challenges traditional notions of physical presence in art. By focusing on the auditory experience, Invisible Body Performance asks us to re-evaluate the role that sound plays in our perception of body, movement and space. It is about unravelling the complex relationship between auditory perception and physical reality, and making embodied realities tangible through acoustic stimuli. After the performance, Maria Colusi and Edgardo Rudnitzky will reflect on the background to their performance and their shared experience in a discussion with Mathias Maschat and in dialogue with the audience.

As a composer, sound artist and percussionist, Edgardo Rudnitzky (Argentina, 1956) has worked intensively as a composer and sound designer for theatre productions, contemporary dance and film. The idea of the physicality of sound, its natural material presence in space and sound memory are at the centre of his work, which has led him to explore the limits and possibilities of simple mechanisms, reinventing the functionality of objects and machines through carefully constructed systems and integrating them into the environment to breathe new life into unusual places. His work has been seen and heard at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Venice Biennale, the Yokohama Triennale, the Naturkundemuseum Halle, the HKW Berlin, the Istanbul Biennale and other public and private venues. He has been living in Berlin since 2003.

Maria Colusi is a dancer, teacher, choreographer and mentor based in Berlin. She was born in Argentina and graduated from the Taller de Danza Contemporanea del Teatro Gral. She studied dance and choreography in France and at the American Dance Festival in the USA. She has been a member of Sasha Waltz and Guest Company, Ballet Contemporaneo Teatro Gral and Tangokinesis. She has developed her own interdisciplinary work which has been performed at Radialsystem, Berliner Ensemble, DOCK11, Delphi Theater, Schloss Solitude, Festival des Arts in Belgium and Centro Artistico it Grattaclelo in Italy. She teaches improvisation and composition workshops in Germany and abroad for various companies, dance centres and universities, including the Universität der Künste Berlin, HZT-BA Dance Programme, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, University of the Arts in Argentina, UNA, Institut del Teatre ITI in Spain, Marameo, Tanzfabrik Schule, B12 Summer Festival Berlin, PRODA in Norway, Sasha Waltz & Guests Company and Staatsballett in Germany, to name but a few. She has received scholarships from various institutions.
