#improCerto #2
Improvisation and solo concert in the classical and romantic era
#freesolo-#improcerti

Lorenz Blaumer/Juri de Marco (DE): artistic direction
Noam Sivan (IL): composer in residence
Immanuel de Gilde (NL/DE): project management and moderation

The #freesolo project explores the tension between autocracy and democracy, the balance between action and reaction, the balance between loud demands and careful listening. To this end, the Stegreif Orchester examines the solo concerto and the classical orchestral apparatus for its contrasting forms of conducting. Improvisation plays a leading role and forms the musical means of this project through the development of individual solo to collaborative group improvisations.

The second #improcerto is dedicated to the musical epochs of Classical and Romantic music. Between notated formal language, motivic-thematic development and the breaking up of the sonata form, Stegreif explores the freedoms in the music of this period. Works from the most frequently performed period of Classical music will be placed in a new context by means of improvisation. Finally, the workshop concert #improcerto #2 will focus on contemporary forms of symphonic improvisation, which are the starting point for the #freesolo project.

As composer in residence, composer, pianist and improviser Noam Sivan will work with the Stegreif Orchester to develop a stylistic repertoire that emerges in the moment and critically examines current musical practice.
