We – the team of exploratorium berlin team – are on the lookout for a new restaurant partnership that fits in with us, our work and our visitors.

The exploratorium is a place for improvisation in music and other arts with a special interest in experimental approaches.
Improvising in music and other arts means engaging in an intensive non-verbal exchange with our playing partners. This allows us to create something collaborative in an instant, without prior consultation, that is also artistically convincing.
Our work is aimed at people of all ages and artistic levels, regardless of their financial means.

For our approx. 250 square metre catering area, we would like to create a place that

• offers a suitable atmosphere for intensive socialising before and after our events
• offers an environment which suits the diversity of our visitors, from the experimental improv experts to the participants in our parent-child events
• also provides attractive offers for people on a limited budget.

The restaurant is also the entrance to the exploratorium. Whoever visits one of our events passes through this area.
Creating an appealing offer and environment that invites our visitors to stay will be a great benefit for everyone involved.

Dear visitors to the exploratorium berlin,

even though the unpredictable is our profession, we would like to try to shed some light on the current access situation to the exploratorium.

There are a total of 3 entrances:

Entrance G / Eingang G (through gastronomy)

since the restaurant has finally closed until we find a new partner, this entrance is only opened for our two concert series Improvisation International and Sound and Lecture.

Entrance H / Eingang H (Hof/courtyard)

is currently our main entrance for visitors.
There are several gates in the large courtyard grid. From April 2024 the left gate is open for us, the middle one will be locked soon.
Here, the path leads to a door in the middle of the building, which is clearly marked.
When events are taking place, the door into the building can be opened with a code which you get from the facilitor of your event.
Please keep the door closed, because we do not want “uninvited guests”.

Both entrances (H and G)

lead to our foyer on the ground floor, where our concert hall is located.
The staircase or elevator takes you to the other floors: the basement with Studio 1, the 1st floor with the explo office and the 2nd floor with Studio 2 and Studio 3.

Entrance B / Eingang B (Büro/office)

is relevant for those who have an appointment with a team member in the office, for example for room briefings or similar.
This entrance is located in the tenant stairwell. Please ring the bell downstairs, the office is on the 1st floor.

Please note: Due to an update of our website software, unfortunately everything has to be set up again. Therefore there will be some confusion on the site for some time. We apologise for this! We are working hard to restore the site!

Dear friends of improvisation,

our new programme overview for the period Mid February to July 2024 can be downloaded here as a pdf (by clicking on the cover or on the word downloaded). The print version will available in the exploratorium by the middle of January.

You have probably already noticed that we are currently working hard on our website.

Unfortunately, this can lead to these inconveniences, among others:

– Content is in a new & unfamiliar place,

We will try to complete the work as soon as possible.

We would like to thank all our visitors and participants, the performers, the lecturers, the facilitators, the moderators and our freelancers and helpers.

We thank you for your loyalty and for the good cooperation in this exhausting and exciting year 2020.
